Privacy Policy

The short version

Habitiva is designed to work locally on your device: your goals, habits, completions, check-ins, and workout details are stored in a database on your device and do not need to be sent to Habitiva's servers for normal tracking. If you use account-based or server-backed features — such as a Habitiva account, sign-in, or the AI Coach — certain information is transmitted to and processed by Habitiva's servers and the service providers required to provide those features, as described below.

What we collect

What Habitiva collects depends on the features you use. Local tracking data — goals, habits, completions, check-ins, and workout details including weight and reps — stays in the on-device database. If you use server-backed features, Habitiva also processes account information (such as your name and email address), authentication information, and the content needed for those features (such as account emails and AI Coach context).

Goals, habits, completions, check-ins, and workout records you keep in local mode are stored in a database on your device and are not uploaded to Habitiva's servers for normal local tracking.

If you create or sign in to a server-backed Habitiva account, the credentials you enter are sent to Habitiva's authentication backend. Passwords are handled securely by the backend and are never stored as plaintext. Your email address may be stored as part of your account and used for authentication and account-related messages, such as verification and password-reset emails.

Habitiva includes no third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs, and uses no advertising or tracking cookies. Signing in on the web uses a single strictly necessary session cookie that keeps you signed in; the Android app may keep an equivalent session token in on-device storage for the same purpose.

How your data is used

Local data powers on-device features: your schedule, insights, and progress. When you use server-backed features, your information is additionally used to operate those features — for example, verifying your sign-in, sending account emails, and generating AI Coach responses.

Permissions

The app requests the Android INTERNET permission, which the embedded web runtime uses to serve the app's bundled interface and, when you use server-backed features, to communicate with Habitiva's servers for authentication, account emails, and AI Coach responses.

Android system backups are disabled, so your habit data is not copied to Google Drive or any cloud backup.

Third-party components

The app embeds a third-party open-source SQLite plugin (@capacitor-community/sqlite) that stores your data in a database file on your device. The plugin transmits nothing and has no server component.

Habitiva uses a small number of service providers to operate server-backed features: OpenAI processes AI Coach requests (currently using the gpt-4o-mini model) — Coach context can include habit titles, schedules and adherence, mood, and blocker notes, along with recent conversation history for server-backed users; Resend delivers verification and password-reset emails; Google verifies Google sign-in when it is used with a server-backed account; Google Play Billing processes Plus/Pro subscription purchases on Android — payment details are handled by Google Play under its terms, and our servers receive only the purchase verification result needed to unlock premium. No third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs are included in the app.

Security

Your data is stored in an unencrypted SQLite database inside the app's private storage on your device, protected by the operating system's app sandbox.

Information sent to Habitiva's servers for server-backed features travels over encrypted network connections. Data that never leaves your device has nothing to intercept in transit.

Retention

Local data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Server-backed account data, including AI Coach conversation history for server-backed users, is retained while your account exists and as needed to operate the service.

Deletion

You can permanently delete all data and your local account at any time from the app's login screen using the "Delete all data on this device" control.

Deleting the app, or clearing its data in Android settings, also permanently removes your on-device history. If you used server-backed account features, you can delete that data yourself on the Account & Data Deletion page linked below — or contact the developer using the details below.

Children

The app is not directed at children. Local tracking collects nothing from anyone; server-backed features process only the account and coaching data described in this policy.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, we will update it here and note the date above.
